Hi everyone! We’ve released an update with improvements and fixes in the latest version, 2.3.4. Could you please update your app?
To check your current version: Bevel -> Profile -> scroll to the bottom.
To update the app:
Go to the App Store -> open Bevel’s page and the update option should appear.
Once you’re on the latest version, please redo the onboarding process for cycle tracking by deleting your app once again and let me know if you’re still getting stuck or if the issue is now resolved. Thanks!
Please do unhide the other sources on Bevel data sources for cycle tracking first before doing this.

Randell I am still stuck. Nothing was hidden by the sources
Randell
Denima Ricks: Hi Denima, I just wanted to confirn, are you still stuck on the same part of the Cycle Tracking onboarding?
Also, can you please kindly send your logs? Go to Bevel -> Profile -> Scroll down to the bottom, tap "Send logs to Developer".
then Email me at hello@bevel.health the name and email address you've used to log in to the app. Please include my name on the email subject so I can find it right away. Thank you!

RandellYes, will send

Denima how long did you wait for onboarding? Looking through your logs it looks like we still loading data approximately 7 minutes after the start — this is because of the extended data loading window you are using (4+ years). Our logging seems to be indicating data loading is now finishing after some time (compared to before, where it actually was never finishing). Can you try waiting 10 full minutes for the initial data load to finish? This should only be needed once, and we’ll continue to look into how we can speed this up.

Denima Ricks
Dylanyes it works now thank you!
Dylan
Denima glad to hear! We’ll keep improving this to make it faster but I think the combo of significant amounts of data coming from other apps plus a long data loading window resulted in a long load time. Glad to hear it’s working now!

My new menstrual cycle data stays at 50%. It won’t fully load.

Working on a fix
Dylan
Hi Denima Ricks, we're looking into this issue. Do you mind providing some additional info?
- Are you using any of the other fall release features (specifically the new garmin integration)?
- Have you tried updating to the newest version of the app?
D
Denima Ricks
Dylan 1. No and 2. Yes
Dylan
Thanks. We're looking into this with urgency as we don't want anything to be blocked by this for any longer. Thanks for making us aware of this issue.

Karleigh
I have the same issue as above. Have not been able to access the cycle tracking. I have allowed the screen to sit for over 20 minutes and it does not update
Dylan
Karleigh a couple questions for you as we look into this:
- Are you using the the new garmin integration?
- Are you willing to try again, note the time you started the onboarding, leave it for 5-10 mins, then send logs to us?
K
Karleigh
Dylan I am not using the garmin integration. I tried clearing cache and reloading data then retrying cycle tracking and it did not work.
I will try again and send logs now!
Dylan
Karleigh thanks for the logs. Are you willing to reach out to me via email to test some fixes? That would be dmace@bevel.health.

Hi Alex Garcia, thank you for reaching out. How long approximately was this screen loading for? If you quit and re-open the app, are you able to go through the Cycle onboarding from your home dashboard?
Amanda
Alex Garcia Can you please share your logs so we can look into this? Settings > scroll down and press Send logs to developer.

Alex Garcia
Amanda if I allow it to, it will load forever. I’ve kept the screen open for 15 minutes and it stayed loading the entire time. I have quit and reopened the app and it still stays loading I haven’t been able to go through cycle onboarding yet.

Alex Garcia
Amanda I sent logs to developer
Dylan
Alex do you use any other third-party apps to log menstrual data to apple health?
A
Alex Garcia
Dylan Withings in the past but not lately as if just been putting my cycle notes in apple health
Dylan
Alex thanks for letting me know. If you If you go to Bevel -> Settings -> Data Sources -> Cycle -> and disable Withings, can you get through onboarding or does it still hang?
A
Alex Garcia
Dylan there is no option to disable. II caI can’t click on or swipe on the Withings option shown here. Plus it looks like Withings data is being pulled through apple health? Not sure.
Dylan
Alex Garcia if you select hide data sources, you can disable the sources you do not want to use. Our suspicion is that there is another app that is writing millions of samples to Apple health, causing onboarding to get stuck. If you disable everything except Apple health and bevel and then try to go through onboarding again, does it work?
A
Alex Garcia
Dylan so I briefly read your comment and then I disabled or hide Withings data under cycle. It allowed me to go through onboarding but then I noticed it said my cycle was 82 days she really it’s 28.
A
Alex Garcia
So then I re-read your comment and you said to hide everything except apple health and bevel. So I did that and now it says my cycle is 163 days!
Dylan
I think this is because Bevel is now missing the data from those other sources which filled in the gaps. Now, it's reading only the samples in health which is why your cycle is calculated so long. We are working on a fix to resolve the slow onboarding with certain data sources, but for the mean time if you retroactively log your last 6 cycle this should "pull up" your data into Bevel and fix your cycle length.
A
Alex Garcia
Dylan will this be in the next release? What do you think the ETA is?
How do I retroactively log my last six cycles? Also will this affect what’s in my Apple health? I don’t even know if it’s worth it unfortunately. Depends on ETA of the fix.
Dylan
Alex Garcia if you click on the calendar in the cycle tracking feature and select the plus, it will allow you to log flow. You can select any days in the past to add flow. Since this should match your health data, Apple Health will have new logs from Bevel but they should not impact your Apple health predictions since the data purely overlaps.
We believe we actually have fixed the issue in the newest app version, so if you would like, you can update and then try turning on the other sources.

Alex Garcia
Dylan I just updated today to 2.3.4. So do you mean the fix would be in the next one?
A
Alex Garcia
Randell Amanda Dylan
yay I updated and it works for me now!
My only question is, I guess I’m not sure where I should be primarily logging symptoms and information as the primary source.
Should I be logging my period and symptoms into the Apple health app that will then feed into Bevel? Or vice versa? If I put any symptoms into Bevel will it be logged into Apple health?
There are also things in the journal section like abdominal cramps, menstruation, ovulation that I am prompted to log yes or no everyday. Will these be logged in the Apple health app as well? Shouldn’t these be automated now that we have cycle tracking? Seems repetitive.
Dylan
In terms of period and symptoms, the transfer is two ways — logging in health will pull into Bevel and the other way. In terms of the journal tags, menstruation should be bi-directional and hooked into Bevel’s cycle tracking but other ones are not yet. This is something we planned to do in the future but for now
I would recommend ignoring/disabling the custom journal tags for other symptoms and just log through the cycle tracking function as the other tags were not logging to apple health anyways (compared to the cycle feature, which does).
