Reduce Clicks For Adding Food
planned (soon)

It takes to many clicks and feels clunky compared to NutraCheck to add food to the diary. For example I have a saved recipe for a skinny cappuccino which I have measured etc so I know my milk quantity etc. but to add this it too may clicks, for saved/favourite recipes there should be a quick add button that just adds it straight ti the day.

Also when you try to look down the searched foods by swiping down, if you swipe too hard it takes you off the log and you have to start again

Completely agree. Way too many clicks. I have a saved recipe for a smoothie I have every weekday. It takes 6-7 clicks and swipes to log it. I think a combination of UI overhaul plus some predictive AI features would help. I could see a feature where the app predicts a likely food based on our trends and shows it in our log “unclicked”. A simple confirmation click would log it.

I would love to see the ability to add food from Apple Watch like MacroFactor does

When looking at previous entries, an option to “Add to today” would make things much simpler - and/or copy/paste.

The whole calories business is laboured too - you’ve got AI that uses my data to calculate what I need to deficit my calories for weightloss, but it can’t create/update my goal - it literally told me how to manually add the goal - I had to write stuff down like a medieval peasant. Also the only option in goals to maintain protein targets is a percentage - but the AI gave me calories and grams - I had to fiddle with percentages to get to 180g - very poor. It created exercise programs for me - why not diet/calorie goals.

Could we get a plugin? I’d rather use nutracheck for now than bevels system

Doug Lawson
Samuel Brown good point - if it just read nutrition, calories etc from other apps it would work - I use Lose It! - but nothing I put in there is reflected in bevel

Samuel Brown yes same! FoodNoms is so much more user friendly and thought out. With minimum amount of clicks, and hooks into Apple Shortcuts etc. Bevel via the food tracker is just too clunky. Starts with scan, find, search, photo options?? Then can’t find often tracked foods/drinks. Via AI is cool but it takes way too long. The AI is taking a minute or so, then the cart takes half a minute to update, so I have to wait until I can press add to food log. Etc etc

Timed it just now: Adding a coffee trough AI took 40 seconds.

Doug Lawson bevel already syncs with apple health so the calories, macros and micros sync with bevel already. Only thing is that the individual food entries don’t sync so their AI can’t calculate the health score or tell you anything that requires info about the specific foods you ate.

Agreed. Especially for foods or water quantity that I consume every day, multiple times(glasses of water), I should be able to create a list of foods I often use. Right now I have to create a single item recipe, then add it to my favorites. That way I quickly add them. OR, have the last entered food of that type come up first when I search, so if last time I chose water it was 12floz, then that shoul come up when I search (default is 1 cup). It's ridiculous that I have to click several times just to add a glass of water. That said, Bevel 3.0 is AMAZING!!!

Merged in a post:
Adding time of meal and other features of a meal is too cumbersome.

It takes 4-5 steps. There should be a way when first adding food to specify the time. Instead, the app assumes it’s being consumed at the present time. Once you go to “review log”, it still doesn’t show where to change the time. When you click the item in the log, it
still
doesn’t show where to change the time. You have to then click ‘edit’ and then scroll all the way down. Then, you have to do this for each individual item. Overall, the food logging user experience is unacceptably cumbersome.B

Just add to control centre.. no?

Agreed I use Nutracheck too. If Bevel can get some data integration with them or behind the scenes elsewhere, and really nail all the good info with a tidy UI this would be helpful and then we won’t need Nutracheck. ATM the full feed from Nutracheck to Bevel isn’t sufficient as it doesn’t unlock analysis right
